Edinburgh Cashmere is a luxury fashion brand who only produce 100 per cent pure cashmere and lambswool scarves, stoles, capes and blankets. The iconic brands’ exclusive designs, attention to detail and dedication to finesse sets it head and shoulders apart from the competition.
It took ten long years of relentless research and hard work to become one of the top producers, wholesalers and retailers in the UK and Europe.
The mastermind behind the creation of the luxury brand is Didar Singh Chalana, a self-made entrepreneur, known as DC for short. Always quick to spot an opportunity, it was back in 2008 that he recognised that Edinburgh was home to the largest number of cashmere shops in the world. Hard work and dogged determination have certainly merited him to call himself the proud owner of Edinburgh Cashmere. DC was also the first person in the world to produce 110 different clan cashmere scarves.
Forever on a quest to deliver the very best to customers, DC has worked with notable Italian and French designers, and has recently branched out supplying premier football clubs. To date Edinburgh Cashmere has produced over one million timeless designer pieces from their own factory, sourcing only the finest cashmere and lambswool available.
DC Singh designs elevate Edinburgh Cashmere to global recognition
Didar Singh Chalana, known as DC for short, is a self-made entrepreneur. His business acumen and unique designs have seen him recently appearing in Vogue, Grazia, GQ and Tatler.
Back in 2008 whilst working as a sales assistant DC was the first person to recognise that Edinburgh had the largest number of cashmere shops in the world, sparking his inspiration to create the brand Edinburgh Cashmere.
This would not be overnight, it took ten long years of relentless research and hard work to achieve his goal of becoming one of the top designers, manufacturers and wholesalers of pure cashmere and pure lambswool in the UK and Europe. One of his major accomplishments was to be the first person in the world to produce 110 different clan cashmere scarves.
DC oversees every aspect of his production from designing through to completion in his own factory, as well as dealing directly with sustainable cashmere and lambswool farms, ensuring luxury quality and value. To date he has manufactured millions of high-end products. His specialty is up to the minute designs in Monogram and Jacquard featuring his DC monogram logo. He also created one of the world’s most famous designs, the DC Classic Check. His new 2024 collection of scarves, stoles and capes is set to make waves in the fashion industry.
His passion for quality has allowed him to collaborate with top Italian and French designers and has recently branched out into supplying premier football clubs with merchandise.
Another passion that DC has is for mens fashion which he has successfully branched into with DC Milan menswear. This is an on trend brand specialising in jeans, sweatshirts and jackets, all designed and manufactured from scratch by himself.
It is safe to say that DC’s passion for quality and design has allowed him to take his Scottish based brand Edinburgh Cashmere to international level in a short time period that rival companies have not achieved in a lifetime.
